We're through two rounds in the LHSAA high school baseball playoffs.
In the Houma-Thibodaux area, six teams were still alive in the chase for a championship. After last weekend, that number is down to three.
Here's how each of them fared:
Covenant Christian
The top-ranked Lions have had a long wait, but finally learned their first opponent in Division IV select. CCA will take on No. 16 St. Martin's Episcopal on Thursday night.
E.D. White
The 7-seed Cardinals were actually upset in Game 1 by No. 10 Acadiana Renaissance Charter, 3-2, to open the Division II select tournament. However, EDW rallied to win Game 2, 8-1, and Game 3, 6-2. Next up is a series traveling to No. 2 St. Charles starting on Thursday.
Houma Christian
The No. 14 Warriors were officially eliminated from the Division III select tournament after being swept by No. 3 Pope John Paul II. In Game 1, HCS was run-ruled, 11-1, while losing Game 2, 7-0.
St. James
The No. 16 Wildcats couldn't pull off the upset of top-ranked Sterlington in Division III non-select. In a Game 1 pitchers' duel, St. James lost, 1-0, before being run-ruled in Game 2, 17-0.
South Terrebonne
No. 13 STHS dropped Game 1, 9-3, and was run-ruled in Game 2, 12-0, to lose to No. 4 West Ouachita in Division II non-select.
Vandebilt Catholic
Fresh off a first-round bye, the No. 5 Terriers swept 12-seed The Willow School to open the Division II select tournament, winning Game 1, 7-2, and Game 2, 9-0. Next up is a road series against No. 4 Buckeye starting on Thursday.
