Urban Meyer warns Tennessee has 'a problem' after moving on from Nico Iamaleava

Former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava entered the NCAA transfer portal Wednesday. Tennessee announced it was moving on from Iamaleava after he did not attend practice on April 11 and did not play in the Orange & White Game on April 12.

Following Iamaleava's departure from Tennessee, former Florida and Ohio State national champion head coach Urban Meyer said the Vols have "a problem."

"Everybody’s saying, ‘Nice job Tennessee, making a stand,'" Meyer said on "The Triple Option." "I’ve got a little comment on that. Tennessee plays Florida usually every year in October. Can you imagine that game’s going the other way and coach (Josh) Heupel grabs the microphone and stands on the 50-yard line in Neyland Stadium and says, ‘It’s OK, I made a stand way back when.'"

Iamaleava left Tennessee after being involved in contract negotiations for NIL.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound signal-caller appeared in 18 games for the Vols from 2023-24.
